Scholarships and Grants for Medical Coding Students

Offset the Cost of Medical Coding School through State Scholarships & Grants
Are you looking for a new career, or a job you can do from home to bring in a little extra money? But are you also worried about paying tuition for classes that may not lead anywhere, especially with rising interest rates? Coding Clarified is here to make sure that your attempt to step forward doesn’t move you two steps back.

Starting a new career for your mental health or to stay closer to your family can take a lot of time and be expensive, especially if you need to become a full-time student at a community college or four-year university. But what if you had the opportunity to take an online CPC course, and get the needed certification, with little to no out of pocket expense on your part?

Your state workforce services program likely offers medical coding scholarships and medical coding grants, and we’ve partnered with many local workforce service programs to help provide them to you. All you have to do is find your state below, and we’ll help you take the steps to figure out if you qualify for one of your state’s medical coding and CPC scholarships.

How Our Program Qualifies for State-Approved Medical Coding Grants

Woman in a blue scrubs and stethoscope at a laptop to help illustrate Free Medical Coding ScholarshipsMaking Medical Coding Training Accessible for All
Coding Clarified was started by our founder, Janine, because discovering medical coding allowed her to live her ideal life and stay with her children while providing for them from home. Becoming a certified CPC and CPC-I allowed her to go from living paycheck to paycheck to a comfortable lifestyle with her children.

Janine pulled herself up all on her own, but she realized that with her knowledge, she could give others in her shoes a helping hand. Janine started Coding Clarified in 2015 with the goal of making it easier for you to obtain this certification and get into a career that can provide you and yours with financial security and the option of working from home.

We realize not everybody has the resources to start this new career journey on their own–and even if you do, why pay any more than you absolutely have to? If medical coding scholarships are available to you, why not take advantage of them?

How to Find Medical Coding Scholarships Easily

We’ve Compiled a List for You!
Most states offer help for those who want to obtain CPC certification for a better career. We’ve partnered with those states to make the process easier for you, detailing the steps you need to take in plain, easy-to-understand language meant to take the intimidation out of applying for this kind of help in your state.

The grant or scholarship amount varies depending on your location, so make sure to get accurate information for your needs. If you can’t find your state on our list, email us at [email protected].

Coding Clarified does not determine eligibility nor do we know what the eligibility criteria is. Each state differs in their determination requirements and to prevent Coding Clarified in finding people in the appropriate class the states do not release any type of eligibility criteria–and righteously so.

Here are the steps to follow to see if your state offers help, and how to get it if they do:

  1. Find state in alphabetic list
  2. Locate your local workforce area
  3. Contact them
  4. Inform them you want to be a medical coder through Coding Clarified an approved ETPL Training Provider of theirs
  5. Request for an eligibility screening
  6. Email [email protected] your training voucher
  7. Fill out grant instructions form sent via email after Janine received your training voucher via email

Explore the Basics of Medical Coding

The backbone of the healthcare system
When you visit a doctor or have a medical procedure, there’s a lot of information involved: diagnoses, treatments, tests, medications, and more. Medical coding takes all of that complex information and translates it into a standardized set of codes that are used for billing, insurance claims, and keeping track of patient records.

Each medical service, procedure, or diagnosis has its own unique alphanumeric code. These codes help healthcare providers communicate with insurance companies, government agencies, and each other. They ensure that everyone understands exactly what services were provided and why.

Behind the scenes, skilled professionals called medical coders meticulously review patient records and assign the appropriate codes according to established guidelines. It’s a bit like solving a puzzle, where accuracy and attention to detail are key.

Medical coding might seem like a technical process, but it’s crucial for keeping the healthcare system running smoothly and ensuring that patients receive the care they need while healthcare providers get reimbursed correctly. And it’s a job that is in high demand–so take advantage of state or federal scholarships and start your journey to a new career today.
