Founded by a Coder Who Built Her Career From Home

Janine Mothershed was the first in her family to attend college. Facing the challenges of parenthood at a young age, she chose medical coding because it let her work from home and stay present for her children. She has worked in the field since 2005 and founded Coding Clarified in 2015 to give career changers the instructor access and real experience she knew new coders needed.Today Coding Clarified is an AAPC licensed training school, a WIOA approved provider in more than 30 states, and a U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship sponsor that has helped more than 1,000 students build careers on their own terms.

Is Coding Clarified an accredited or approved medical coding school?
Coding Clarified is an AAPC licensed training school that uses AAPC's approved CPC curriculum. We are an approved Eligible Training Provider for WIOA funding in more than 30 states and a U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship sponsor.
How long does it take to become a medical coder?
Our CPC training course is 80 clock hours on a recommended 16 week schedule at 12 to 15 hours of study per week, with 4 months of course access. After the course you sit for the AAPC CPC exam, then build experience through Practicode and our HCC internship, which most interns finish in 3 to 4 months.
Do I need medical experience or a degree to start?
No. There are no prerequisites, entrance tests, or degree requirements. The course begins with the business of medicine, anatomy, and medical terminology before you learn to code.
Is the program online and when can I start?
Yes. The program is 100% online and instructor led, with no scheduled class meetings. Classes start daily and enrollment is open year round.
How can I pay for medical coding training?
You can pay in full, use a payment plan, or apply for workforce funding.
