Does your employer pay for training? Many do, through tuition reimbursement, educational assistance, or a registered apprenticeship. Coding Clarified works with employers to train medical coders, EMTs, and paramedics, and we make the paperwork simple for both you and your employer.

Three Ways Your Employer Can Pay for Training
| Option | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition reimbursement or educational assistance | Your employer pays the school directly or reimburses you after you complete the course | Current employees moving into coding |
| Registered Apprenticeship | Your employer hires or sponsors you, provides on-the-job training and a mentor, and Coding Clarified provides the related instruction | Medical coding, EMT, and paramedic roles |
| Workforce funding with your employer | Local workforce boards may help fund related instruction or reimburse on-the-job training for qualifying apprentices and new hires | Employers growing a team |
The Tax Benefit for Employers
Under Section 127 of the Internal Revenue Code, employers can provide up to $5,250 per employee per year in educational assistance tax free in 2026, and the limit will adjust for inflation beginning in 2027. Qualifying expenses include tuition, fees, books, and supplies, and the coursework does not have to be job related. Your employer’s written plan sets the rules, so ask HR how yours works.
Medical Coding
Our online, instructor-guided CPC program follows a 16 week outline and includes the CPC exam voucher, AAPC membership, code books, and Practicode. Employers can also host a medical coding Registered Apprenticeship with 2,000 hours of on-the-job learning and 144 hours of related instruction.
EMT and Paramedic Apprenticeships
EMS agencies can sponsor newly certified EMTs and paramedics in our U.S. Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeships. The EMT program includes 2,000 hours of on-the-job learning; the paramedic program includes 4,000 hours. Coding Clarified delivers 144 hours of related instruction per 2,000 hours, including PCR documentation training, medical necessity, and QA/QI coaching on real charts.
