Our Professional Medical Coding Curriculum is a 100% online, instructor led medical coding program that teaches the three code sets every professional coder uses, namely ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II. Training also combines interactive video lectures, reading assignments, real world coding cases, quizzes, chapter exams, and a final exam. Instructor Led, Not Self Paced: How Our Online Medical Coding Classes Work
Many online courses hand you videos and then leave you alone. Ours, however, is instructor led: you follow a set weekly schedule, submit graded work every week, and have a credentialed instructor reviewing your progress and answering your coding questions. There are no class meetings to attend, so you log in on your own schedule, but you are never studying without support.

Of course, you can arrange your study days around your life. Still, this five day pattern is what our most successful students follow:
- Watch the chapter's video lectures before anything else.
- Add the instructor book notes to your code books, then take the quiz.

Who This Program Is Not For
We want every student to finish, pass, and land a job, so we are direct about this. Medical coding is not easy. If it were, everybody would do it. Read both lists honestly before you enroll.
This program is not for you if:
- You want to show up at a set time and sit in a classroom. There are no class meetings, so you have to manage your own study time.
- You are looking for a highly social, people facing job. Instead, coding is quiet, focused, independent work, often done alone at a computer.
- You expect a quick or easy credential. In reality, the course is demanding and the CPC exam is hard.
- You cannot commit 12 to 15 hours a week, every week, until you finish.
- You want to skim lessons instead of doing the reading, practice cases, and exams.

How much does the online CPC course cost?
Total program cost is $5,999, including tuition $4,149, technology fee $400, books $600, two CPC exam vouchers $550, and Practicode $300. That covers instruction and print code books, as well as electronic materials, AAPC membership, practice exams, Practicode, and the HCC internship. Guaranteed in-house financing is also available for those who qualify, starting at $1,049 down, and some 401(k) plans allow education withdrawals. In addition, many students qualify for WIOA workforce funding, which is available through Coding Clarified in 30+ states. Tuition shown applies in most states. Your enrollment agreement confirms your exact tuition before you pay.
How long does it take to get CPC certified online?
Most students finish our online CPC course in about 16 weeks when they study 12 to 15 hours per week, at a minimum pace of one chapter per week. You have 4 months of access from your start date, and we can extend it up to 6 months if you face a hardship. When you finish, you sit for the AAPC CPC exam: 100 multiple choice questions in four hours, open code book, with a passing score of 70 percent. AAPC then posts results within 7 to 10 business days.
Is the course self paced or instructor led?
It is instructor led. You follow a recommended 16 week schedule with graded work due every week, while a credentialed instructor monitors your progress and answers your coding questions. There are no live class meetings, so you choose when you log in, but you are not on your own.

Classes start daily, and enrollment is also open year round. Once your enrollment is complete, you receive your eBooks and logins by email and can begin immediately while we mail your print code books to you.
Is prior medical experience required to enroll?
No. There are no academic prerequisites or entrance tests, and you also do not need prior medical experience. Instead, the curriculum starts with the business of medicine, anatomy, and medical terminology and builds your coding skills from the ground up.

Does Coding Clarified award the CPC credential?
No. The AAPC awards the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential when you pass the CPC exam. Instead, Coding Clarified awards a Certificate of Completion for the course and prepares you to sit for the exam, with two exam attempts included.
Are code books and other materials included?
Yes. We mail your current year CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II code books to you in print, so you have the same books allowed in the CPC exam. In addition, your workbook and study guide are electronic, along with instructor video and audio notes for your books.
