You don’t want to take just any internship: you want to make sure you’ll be doing the work that gets you the experience for the job you want. In some cases, an institution may give you a coding internship only to turn around and give you billing work. While the two positions work closely with each other, they are quite different jobs.
And if you want to be a biller, that’s fine. Coding Clarified is here to get you medical coding training so you can get a medical coding job. We don’t offer medical billing training, so you wouldn’t be very prepared for that position anyway.
However, you will be prepared to apply to positions across multiple specialties. HCC is the largest specialty in medical coding (including OBGYN, GI, Orthopedics, Endocrinology, Emergency, Neurology, etc.) and you’ll be qualified to pursue any of them.

Once you’ve completed the online CPC course, aced the exam, and complete the Practicode Module, you’ll be able to start your internship, working with real medical records, and gaining valuable work experience. Once you’ve completed your internship–usually between 3-4 months–you’ll essentially have TWO years of experience!
With that kind of notation on your resume, you’ll apply for remote positions with the confidence that potential employers will take your application seriously. And you’ll have the confidence that you know what you’re doing and are ready to step up to the plate.
