What is Medical Coding?

Medical coding involves the transformation of healthcare diagnoses, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal alphanumeric codes. These codes are essential for billing purposes, insurance claims, medical research, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Accuracy in medical coding is paramount, as it directly impacts healthcare providers’ reimbursement and patients’ medical records.
